He is caught in a wide sideways stride, his front foot planted on a cut tree stump and his back foot on the rock behind it. His right arm is raised and bent behind his head so the katana angles down past his face, and his left arm reaches straight forward with the fingers open. His hair is swept back into a dozen loose strands as if he is moving fast, and his face is level and blank, with half-lidded turquoise eyes. He wears a black uniform jacket with a standing collar, two gold buttons and wide sleeves lined in white, with a large white character on the back, loose black trousers gathered at the shin, a white belt and dark sandals with turquoise straps and ankle wraps. The jacket and trousers carry a fine woven texture. The sword has a square pierced gold guard and a dark wrapped grip, and the scabbard hangs at his hip. The base is a slab of gray, faceted rock with a bark-textured stump, sharp splinters of wood sticking up, and a round cream pot painted with a leafy branch and flowers, while four white mist swirls curl around his feet and out past the rock.
