IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 7 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

Both hands are raised beside his face, palms forward and fingers spread. He wears round black sunglasses with a small star at each outer corner, and has white swept-up eyebrows, a long fur-textured mustache and a pointed white beard. His mouth is wide open in a gap-toothed grin, with a comic nosebleed, a drip of drool, pink blush under the lenses and a sweat drop on one temple. He wears an orange jacket with wide sleeves and pale cuffs over an off-white shirt with frog fastenings, full blue-violet trousers gathered at the ankle, white socks and black slip-on shoes. A purple turtle shell of hexagonal plates, scored with scratch lines, rides on his back on a twisted rope over his shoulders. The base is a round, stepped plinth in black, orange and purple bands with a sculpted series logo on the front, topped with paving stones, a flat rock, grass tufts and a low broken stone wall across the back.

What's in the kit

  • 7 resin pieces in total.
  • Figure, 5 pieces: the head with the sunglasses and beard, the body in the jacket with both sleeves, the squatting legs and two hands.
  • Turtle shell, 1 piece.
  • Base, 1 piece: the round stepped base with the paving, the broken wall and the sculpted logo.
  • Studio size: 176 mm (6.93 in) tall, 132 mm (5.20 in) wide and 137 mm (5.39 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' notes for this model).
  • Scale: about 1:10 (estimated). The sculptor doesn't publish a scale, so this is my estimate of the closest standard scale based on the model's measurements. It may not look in scale next to other 1:10 figures, and scale can differ from one creator to another.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: intermediate

  • The legs, in a deep squat, carry the body, the head and the shell. Pin the legs to the base and the body to the legs.
  • The turtle shell is a large piece that hangs on his back. Pin it rather than relying on glue alone, and check where the rope meets it when you dry-fit.
  • The hands are small, with spread fingers, and sit right beside the face. Fit them last.
  • Fine sculpted texture all over: fur strokes in the beard and mustache, scratch lines on every shell plate and cracks in the wall. A wash and drybrush bring them out.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.

Shipping and returns

  • Free shipping to addresses in the 50 US states, Washington, DC, and military APO/FPO addresses.
  • International or US territory address? You can use a US package forwarding service. My responsibility ends when the package is delivered to the forwarder’s US address. Anything after that is between you and the forwarding service.
  • 30-day free returns. If the kit isn't for you, send it back within 30 days of delivery, unassembled and unsanded, and I'll send you a prepaid return label.
