IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 33 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art statue of the orange-haired swordsman from a famous supernatural action anime, battered but still fighting. He stands square on a rock outcrop with his right arm thrust forward, pointing the huge cleaver-shaped blade of his sword straight at the viewer, and the long white wrap from the hilt spirals up behind him in two big loops above his head. His spiky orange hair falls over glowing pale blue eyes and a level stare, with a small patch on one cheek. He wears a black robe and wide trousers with a heavy woven texture, torn to ribbons at the sleeves and hem, a white sash knotted at the waist, white split-toe socks and rope sandals. His chest and left arm are wrapped in bandages streaked with red, and there is a cut on his bare left shoulder. The blade has a scratched steel face, a dark spine and a black guard. The base is a slab of layered ochre rock with a rising rear wall, ringed by clusters of sharp crystal shards and pale smoke plumes, with small glowing embers dotted over the rock.

What's in the kit

  • 33 resin pieces in total.
  • Figure, 9 pieces: head, torso, two arms, the left hand, two legs in the wide trousers and two sandaled feet.
  • Clothing and wraps, 5 pieces: a torn robe section, a loose cloth tatter, the sash knot and the two loops of white wrap.
  • Sword, 1 piece: the cleaver-shaped blade with its hilt.
  • Base, 5 pieces: the rock outcrop in five sections.
  • Effects, 13 pieces: six clusters of crystal shards and seven smoke plumes.
  • Tallest single piece: the left leg in the wide trousers, 156.9 mm (6.18 in) in the sculptor's file. The sculptor doesn't publish an assembled height for this kit, so I don't list one.
  • The blade is 238.2 mm (9.38 in) long in the sculptor's file.
  • The rock base with its crystal and smoke pieces spans 259.3 × 312.0 mm (10.21 × 12.28 in) in the sculptor's files.
  • Scale: about 1:6 (estimated). The sculptor doesn't publish a scale, so this is my estimate of the closest standard scale based on the model's measurements. It may not look in scale next to other 1:6 figures, and scale can differ from one creator to another.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • The blade is long and heavy for its single hand-hold at the end of a straight arm. Pin the arm at the shoulder and the hilt into the hand, and fit the blade after the arm is set.
  • The two loops of white wrap are thin ribbons that rise above his head from the hilt. Pin both ends and prop them while the glue cures.
  • The base comes in five rock sections with thirteen crystal and smoke pieces that seat into it, and several plumes lean out past the rock edge. Dry-fit the whole base first and pin the leaning pieces. A glaze and gloss coat give the crystals a glassy look.
  • The trouser and robe seams fall on a woven cloth texture. Plan to fill and re-texture them.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
