IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 22 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art statue of the kind-hearted young swordsman from a hit demon-hunting anime. He stands square to the viewer with his feet planted wide on a wooden platform, his sword raised upright in his right hand beside his head and his left fist at his side, with a set, determined look. He has dark red-brown hair swept back in spiky clumps, a scar on his forehead, large pink-magenta eyes and long card-shaped earrings with a rising-sun design. He wears a green-and-black checkered coat in a coarse woven texture over a black uniform with a white-edged stand collar, buttons and a white belt, loose black trousers gathered into white leg wraps, and sandals with red straps; a black scabbard hangs at his left hip. An arc of flame climbs behind his right shoulder and curls over his head, and a wave of water sweeps in low around his left leg and breaks in a foam crest. The base is three tiers: an octagonal gray marble slab with brass corner caps, a stepped stone block with gold ornaments, and a dark wooden plank platform with a rough edge.

What's in the kit

  • 22 resin pieces in total.
  • Figure, 10 pieces: head, torso, the checkered coat, two coat sleeves, the left forearm with its fist, the right hand, the trousers and two feet.
  • Sword, 3 pieces: the sword and the scabbard in two sections.
  • Base, 3 pieces: the marble slab, the middle stone tier and the wooden platform.
  • Effects, 6 pieces: the fire arc in three sections and the water wave in three sections.
  • Studio size: 401 mm (15.79 in) tall, 230 mm (9.06 in) wide and 220 mm (8.66 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' notes file).
  • Scale: about 1:6 (estimated). The sculptor doesn't publish a scale, so this is my estimate of the closest standard scale based on the model's measurements. It may not look in scale next to other 1:6 figures, and scale can differ from one creator to another.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • Build the three base tiers first, then fit the fire and water sections to the wooden platform; both arcs reach high off small roots, so pin every effect join.
  • The coat is a large thin draped shell that wraps over the torso and trousers. Dry-fit it before gluing so the sleeves meet the arms cleanly.
  • The sword is long and very thin and stands straight up from a small hand. Pin it through the grip and fit it last.
  • The fire and water are meant for translucent resin; their flame tips and foam crests are thin.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
