IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 7 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art chibi of the blond, chain-smoking cook from a famous anime pirate crew, serving a dish. He stands with his feet apart on a round brick-topped plinth, his left hand flat under a plate held out at shoulder height and his right arm thrown up and out the other way with the fingers spread in a flourish. His long blond fringe sweeps down over one eye, the visible eyebrow curls into a spiral, and he grins wide with a cigarette in the corner of his mouth, a row of stubble along the lip and a spiky goatee. He wears a fitted royal-blue double-breasted suit with six gold buttons and gold-trimmed cuffs, a mustard shirt collar with a loose olive tie, and black dress shoes. The plate carries a glazed roast on the bone with potatoes and a heap of rice. The base is a round black plinth with a top of reddish-brown brick.

  • Figure, 5 pieces: the head with the face and cigarette, the hair fringe, the body with both sleeves, the palm-up left hand and the raised right hand.
  • Accessories, 1 piece: the plate with the roast, potatoes and rice.
  • Base, 1 piece: the round brick-topped plinth.
  • Studio size: 150 mm (5.91 in) tall, 86 mm (3.39 in) wide and 77 mm (3.03 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' notes file).

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: intermediate

  • The head is more than half the figure's resin and sits on a slim neck. Glue it well and let the body set on the base first.
  • Both hands are small separate parts with thin fingers; the plate sits flat on the palm-up left hand, so glue the hand to the sleeve before the plate goes on.
  • Both arms reach out past the edge of the base, so handle the body by the torso while it cures.
  • The cigarette, the fringe tips and the bone end on the roast are thin.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.

Shipping and returns

  • Free shipping to addresses in the 50 US states, Washington, DC, and military APO/FPO addresses.
  • International or US territory address? You can use a US package forwarding service. My responsibility ends when the package is delivered to the forwarder’s US address. Anything after that is between you and the forwarding service.
  • 30-day free returns. If the kit isn't for you, send it back within 30 days of delivery, unassembled and unsanded, and I'll send you a prepaid return label.
