IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 10 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art chibi of the giant old pirate captain from a famous anime pirate series. He stands square to the viewer on a round two-tier black base, feet apart, grinning under a huge white crescent mustache whose tips sweep up past his ears. His right hand holds a bisento upright at his side, its curved blade rising well above his head, and his left hand hangs at his hip in a fist. A black bandana is knotted tight over his head, and three scars cross his bare, muscled chest. His white captain's coat hangs from his shoulders like a cape with the sleeves left empty. It is sculpted in a knit texture with gold piping, a tall collar, a crimson quilted lining, gold-fringed epaulettes, gold toggles down one edge and silver studs down the other, and the renders show a purple skull-and-crossbones emblem on the back. A purple woven sash knots at his hip over baggy woven trousers gathered below the knee, and he wears pebbled mid-calf boots. The bisento has a gold collar, an engraved socket, a striped pole and a cloth-wrapped butt end.

What's in the kit

  • 10 resin pieces in total.
  • Figure, 5 pieces: head, upper body with both arms, legs and two boots.
  • Coat, 1 piece: the captain's coat with its collar, epaulettes and empty sleeves.
  • Bisento, 2 pieces: the blade with the top of the pole, and the lower pole.
  • Base, 2 pieces: the top disc and the bottom disc.
  • Tallest single piece: the coat, 100.7 mm (3.96 in) in the sculptor's file. I couldn't confirm the assembled height from the files, so I don't list one.
  • Top base disc: 52.9 mm (2.08 in) across in the sculptor's file.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • The bisento comes in two parts and is the longest, thinnest piece in the kit. Pin the join and the grip in his fist, since the blade sits well above his hand.
  • The coat is a large curved shell that sits on the shoulders and has to clear both arms through the open front. Dry-fit it before gluing.
  • The mustache tips are thin and are the first thing to snap. Clip their supports slowly.
  • Much of the paint job is texture: the knit coat, the quilted lining, the woven sash and trousers and the pebbled boots all take a wash and a drybrush, each over its own base color.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
