IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 34 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art chibi diorama of the spiky white-haired ninja master from a long-running ninja anime, crouched on the head of his giant summoned toad. He sits with one leg folded flat and the other knee up, hands resting on his knees, leaning forward with a toothy grin. He has a big crown of white spikes, long locks framing his face and a feathered ponytail, a horned metal headband marked with a kanji character, red lines running down from his eyes, a red sleeveless vest with yellow circles over a gray-green robe and fishnet mesh, loose trousers and red wooden sandals, with a large red scroll tied on his back. Under him the giant toad hunches low in a royal-blue coat with cream trim and a wrapped sash, one arm stretched out holding a long sword and the other raised with two fingers up, a long pipe with a gold bowl in the corner of its mouth and smoke curling from it. The two-tier mossy rock base carries two tall yellow towers shaped like spiraling shoots with rows of small windows, a stone frog meditating with its eyes closed, a big leaf hanging over the edge with a tiny frog asleep on it, a rock alcove with an amber waterfall and a stone frog fountain holding a curved-top staff, red spotted mushrooms, clovers and an orange book lying on the moss.

What's in the kit

  • 34 resin pieces in total.
  • Rider figure, 11 pieces: the head, the spiked top hair, the side locks, the ponytail, the horned headband, the torso, the legs with sandals, two arms, the scroll and its rope.
  • Giant toad, 8 pieces: the head, the legs, the sash, the coat, the raised arm, the sword arm with the sword, the pipe and the smoke.
  • Base and scenery, 12 pieces: the rock base in two halves, the shorter tower in two sections, the taller tower in three sections, the waterfall alcove, the frog fountain, the water stream, the mushrooms and the big leaf.
  • Accessories, 3 pieces: the meditating stone frog, the tiny sleeping frog and the book.
  • Height: 269.6 mm (10.61 in) tall on its base, measured from the sculptor's single-piece file of the finished figure.
  • The single-piece file of the whole diorama is 287.5 × 278.8 mm (11.32 × 10.98 in) across, and the rock base alone is 251.8 × 264.1 mm (9.91 × 10.40 in) in the sculptor's single-piece base file.
  • Tallest single piece: a tower section, 115.0 mm (4.53 in) in the sculptor's file.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • This is a large diorama. I print the big parts hollow, so fill the small drain holes before priming.
  • Assembly order matters: base halves first, then the towers, waterfall alcove and fountain, then the toad from the legs up, and the rider last. The toad's coat hem curls over the alcove rim.
  • The toad's head is the heaviest figure part and its sword arm holds a long blade out from the shoulder. Pin both.
  • Tiny parts include the water stream, the sleeping frog, the scroll rope, the smoke curl and the pipe.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
