IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 34 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A large fan-art statue of the black shadow wyvern ridden by the hero of a popular dark-fantasy hunter anime. It rears up over a pale boulder with both hind feet clamped on top, talons hooked over the edges, and twists so the chest faces you. The neck drops forward in an S curve to an open-jawed head, and both wings are thrown up and back, one fanned out wide to set the height. It is built as a wyvern: two hind legs and a clawed hand at each wing's wrist. The hide is a mass of fine scales broken by large plates, the belly and throat are finely pebbled, the head ends in a hooked, beak-like snout ringed with feather-like spikes, needle teeth and a spiked jaw frill, and two horns sweep back from behind the eyes. Curling smoke wisps rise off the shoulders, and the tail wraps around the boulder and coils into a spiked ring on the base. The studio paints it two ways in its renders, glowing cyan-blue or hot magenta along the seams between the plates, on the belly, in the mouth and across the wing membranes. The base is a round plinth with a sloped rim and a round dragon-head emblem on the front, topped with rubble, black flames, the boulder and the tail coil. The kit also includes a small swordsman rider in black armor, with his own neck section for the wyvern: he stands on the neck between the horns, holding a long glowing sword point-down and a short red blade. Build him on, or leave him off and use the plain neck.

What's in the kit

  • 34 resin pieces in total.
  • Wyvern, 10 pieces: head, two horns, neck, body, two hind legs and the tail in three sections.
  • Wings, 4 pieces: each wing in two sections.
  • Smoke and fittings, 6 pieces: four curling smoke wisps and two plugs.
  • Base, 4 pieces: the boulder, the round plinth in two halves and the round dragon-head emblem for the front of the rim.
  • Rider, 10 pieces: his head, a small eye effect, torso, two arms, two legs, the hand with the long sword, the hand with the short blade, and a second wyvern neck made for him to stand on. Fit that neck in place of the plain one when he rides.
  • Studio size: 448.0 mm (17.64 in) tall, 331.8 × 380.2 mm (13.06 × 14.97 in) across, wyvern without the rider (from Lion Realm's scale sheet). The rider stands on the neck, below the wingtips.
  • Round plinth: 155.5 × 159.3 mm (6.12 × 6.27 in) across, from the sculptor's single-piece file of the same plinth. The wings and head reach well past it.
  • Scale: about 1:6 (estimated). The sculptor doesn't publish a scale, so this is my estimate of the closest standard scale based on the model's measurements. It may not look in scale next to other 1:6 figures, and scale can differ from one creator to another.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • The whole wyvern stands on two hind legs clamped on the boulder, with the body, neck, head and four wing sections above them. Build from the base up, pin every join, and let each stage cure before loading the next.
  • Each wing is two large curved sections. Dry-fit both wings together before gluing so they balance on either side of the body.
  • The plinth comes in two halves with a seam across the smooth rim. Fill and sand it.
  • The rider is tiny: his head is under 9 mm and his hands carry long, thin blades. Assemble him off the wyvern and fix him to the neck last. He stands on his own neck section, so build the wyvern with whichever neck you want.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.

  • Free shipping to addresses in the 50 US states, Washington, DC, and military APO/FPO addresses.
  • International or US territory address? You can use a US package forwarding service. My responsibility ends when the package is delivered to the forwarder’s US address. Anything after that is between you and the forwarding service.
  • 30-day free returns. If the kit isn't for you, send it back within 30 days of delivery, unassembled and unsanded, and I'll send you a prepaid return label.
