IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 27 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art statue of the silver-haired teacher of magic from a popular fantasy manga and anime about apprentices who draw their spells. He steps through the air with his right boot planted on a single column of water and his left leg bent up behind him, his body turned to one side. His raised left hand holds an open book with a spiral of water lifting out of the pages, and his right hand holds a long sword low across his body. He wears a tall white pointed hat with a small gold stud and a thin brown band that leaves the hat and loops around behind his head, and a dark round eyepiece with a gold rim over one eye under a soft mop of pale hair. His long cream robe crosses at the front and is tied with a wide dark brown sash, under a cream capelet and a long cloak that swings out behind him, weathered darker at the hems. A stand-up collar carries rows of small gold buttons and a gold sunburst clasp with a short tassel, over a dark brown high-necked undershirt, pale gray trousers and tall brown boots. The sword has a purple grip, a gold guard with a small green stone and a bronze blade engraved with scrollwork. The base is a round two-tier stone plinth carved on top with concentric circles, with an ink pot, a dip pen and black ink spilled over the edge, a ring of breaking waves around it and a small water rose at the front. All five sword hands are in the box, so you can swap them as you like: the bare sword wrapped tightly in water, the bare sword with loose water loops, the sword sheathed in a purple scabbard with water loops, the sheathed sword with no water, and the bare sword with no water (not shown in the photos).

What's in the kit

  • 27 resin pieces in total. All five sword hands are in the box.
  • Figure, 11 pieces: head, hair fringe, torso, cloak, the long robe in two halves, legs, two boots and two arms.
  • Head details, 3 pieces: the tall hat, the looping hat band and the small eyepiece.
  • Hands, 6 pieces: the left hand holding the open book with its water spiral, and five sword hands: the bare sword wrapped tightly in water, the bare sword with loose water loops, the sheathed sword with water loops, the sheathed sword with no water, and the bare sword with no water.
  • Base, 5 pieces: the lower and upper stone tiers, the water column he stands on, the ring of waves and the water rose.
  • Accessories, 2 pieces: the ink pot and the dip pen.
  • Studio size: the studio's scale image gives 352.7 mm (13.89 in) tall, 214.7 mm (8.45 in) wide and 237.4 mm (9.35 in) deep for the assembled statue on its base, shown with the plain sheathed sword (from Lion Realm's scale image of the model at 100%). The other sword hands fit the same figure on the same base; the studio doesn't publish separate sizes for them, so I don't list any.
  • Scale: about 1:6 (estimated). The sculptor doesn't publish a scale, so this is my estimate of the closest standard scale based on the model's measurements. It may not look in scale next to other 1:6 figures, and scale can differ from one creator to another.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • He stands on one boot on top of the water column, which plugs into the upper stone tier. Pin up through the boot and the water column into the stone; the whole figure rests on that join.
  • Glue the two stone tiers together first, then dry-fit the ring of waves and the water column before gluing either.
  • The cloak and the two robe halves are large, thin curved pieces that swing out to one side, and the sword hand reaches far out from the right arm. Pin the cloak, the robe and the sword hand.
  • Thin parts: the hat band, which has to meet the hat at both ends of its loop, the tiny eyepiece, the dip pen, the water rose's stem and the water tendrils on the book and the sword.
  • All five sword hands come in the kit. Leave the wrist joint unglued if you want to swap them later.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
