IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design, plus the studio's photos of its own unpainted test prints. Your kit arrives as 36 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art statue of the famous red-skinned demon hero from a long-running dark-fantasy comic series and its films, caught at the top of a leap over a graveyard that is being torn open. His gloved left hand swings a flaming sword high over his head and his oversized stone right fist drives straight out in front, with blocky cracked knuckles, round discs across the back of the hand and a banded forearm. One leg is caught in the frilled, fanged mouth of a serpent rising out of the ground, the other kicks back, and his long tail whips out behind him into a hook. His brown leather coat has come off both shoulders and flies back in one long sheet. His face is a full roar with fangs and tongue under a heavy brow, with black sideburns, a goatee and a topknot. He wears a belt with a round lens at the front, a tooled holster with a revolver, leather pouches, a chain of beads, cut-off trousers and buckled boots. The base is a mound of earth and moss with striped serpent bodies and a suckered tentacle, a rotting corpse lying face up, skeletal hands reaching up, a withered arm raising an old dagger, two leaning headstones topped with crosses, a pool of ooze in the center and clusters of crystal spikes at the front and back. All four heads are in the box; swap them as you like: his ground-down horn stumps, long curled horns, long horns with a small crown of flames, and a cartoon-style head.

What's in the kit

  • 36 resin pieces in total.
  • Figure, 7 pieces: the torso, two legs, the left boot, the stone right hand and forearm, the left sword hand and the tail.
  • Heads, 5 pieces: horn stumps, long curled horns, a second long-horned head made to take the crown, the small crown of flames, and the cartoon-style head.
  • Clothing, 6 pieces: the coat in four sections, the cut-off trousers and the belt.
  • Gear, 7 pieces: the flaming sword, the revolver and five belt pouches.
  • Base, 11 pieces: the graveyard base in eleven sections, with the serpents, headstones, corpse, dagger arm and crystal clusters.
  • Studio size: 500 mm (19.69 in) tall, 300 mm (11.81 in) wide and 350 mm (13.78 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' notes file).
  • Scale: about 1:6 (estimated). The sculptor doesn't publish a scale, so this is my estimate of the closest standard scale based on the model's measurements. It may not look in scale next to other 1:6 figures, and scale can differ from one creator to another.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • The whole figure meets the base at a single point, the leg in the serpent's mouth, and leans far out to one side. Build and pin the figure first, then pin that leg deep into the base. Pinning isn't optional on this one.
  • The sword, the stone fist, the four coat sections and the long tail all hang off the figure. Pin the sword into the fist and the hands at the wrists, and dry-fit the coat sections before gluing. All four heads come in the kit; to swap them later, leave the head unglued on its pin or fit a small magnet.
  • The base comes in eleven numbered sections. Dry-fit the whole graveyard before gluing; the moss, rock and serpent textures hide the seams well.
  • Thin parts: the flames along the blade, the flame crown, the crystal spikes, the bead chain and the small pouches. The studio's assembly video is in the download.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
