IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 16 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art statue of the mischievous baby dinosaur from a classic early-1990s family sitcom performed with puppets. He sits on the floor with his legs splayed wide and his big feet tipped up, leaning in over his round belly with a small toy dinosaur in each fist: a triceratops in one and an upright dinosaur in the other, which he holds up to his mouth. His big bald head has a heavy ridged brow pulled into a frown, large round eyes, a short snout and an open grin with two small teeth, and spots run over his head, cheeks and tail. He wears a short, buttoned shirt and a cloth diaper with elastic bands, and his long, ridged tail runs out behind him and curls up at the tip. There is no base: he sits straight on the shelf, with loose toys around him: a plush dinosaur with rounded spikes down its back, two toy building bricks and a small toy train.

What's in the kit

  • 16 resin pieces in total.
  • Figure, 10 pieces: head, upper body in the shirt, the diaper, two arms, two separate finger pieces, two legs and the tail.
  • Hand-held toys, 2 pieces: a small toy triceratops and a small upright toy dinosaur.
  • Loose toys, 4 pieces: a plush dinosaur, a 2x4 toy brick, a 2x2 toy brick and a small toy train. The renders show more bricks in several colors and a toy shovel; those aren't in the files, so the kit has one of each brick and no shovel.
  • Studio size: 150 mm (5.91 in) tall, 210 mm (8.27 in) wide and 280 mm (11.02 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' notes file).
  • Scale: about 1:10 (estimated). The sculptor doesn't publish a scale, so this is my estimate of the closest standard scale based on the model's measurements. It may not look in scale next to other 1:10 figures, and scale can differ from one creator to another.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • There's no base: he sits on the diaper, both heels and the tail. Dry-fit the legs and tail on a flat surface before gluing so he doesn't rock.
  • Each arm reaches forward with a toy in the fist, and the head leans forward over the chest. Pin the head and both arms.
  • The two hand-held toys and the two finger pieces are tiny, and the triceratops has thin horns and legs. If the finger pieces close over the toys, fit the toys first.
  • The diaper is the largest part in the kit.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
