IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 7 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art bust of the horned oni warrior from a famous anime pirate series. The bust is cut at mid-torso and faces front with the chin down a little, under two crescent-shaped horns scored with shallow rings. The expression is a hard scowl over a small, confident smile. Very long hair is drawn up into a high knot at the crown, pierced by hair rods, and streams out almost level to one side as if caught in a strong wind, with a few strands ending in flat hair ties. Straight bangs cover the forehead, a long lock frames each side of the face, and a thick hoop earring hangs in each ear. The top is a sleeveless, kimono-style garment with a crossed front, a wide flat collar band and a fine woven texture, with two small square crests on the upper front and a raised swirl motif on each side below them. The bust sits on a tapered post over a round plinth with angular buttress blocks. The renders are unpainted gray.

What's in the kit

  • 7 resin pieces in total.
  • Bust, 6 pieces: the head, the torso in the kimono-style top, the main hair sweep with the knot, the front hair locks and two horns.
  • Base, 1 piece: the round plinth with its post.
  • Studio size: 1:6 scale, 143 mm (5.63 in) tall, 137 mm (5.39 in) wide and 153 mm (6.02 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' printing and scale guide).
  • Scale: 1:6 (from the studio). Scale isn't standardized, so figures of the same scale from different creators may not match exactly.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • The main hair sweep is the largest and heaviest piece, and it reaches far out to one side of the bust. Pin it to the head and support the bust while the glue sets.
  • The horns, the front locks and the ends of the hair strands are thin. Clip their supports slowly.
  • The two horns seat on either side of the hair knot. Dry-fit them with the hair before gluing.
  • The woven texture on the top takes a wash well, and the crests and swirls are raised, so a fine brush picks them out.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
