IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 36 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art statue of the tired, by-the-book office-worker sorcerer from a popular dark-fantasy anime. He stands square on a broken slab of pavement with his feet apart, his right arm stretched out low holding a blunt, cleaver-shaped blade bound in spotted cloth, while two fingers of his left hand hook into the knot of his tie and pull it loose, so the tie flies out to the side. His head is turned slightly with a flat, tired scowl. He has short, swept-back pale blond hair and round goggle-style glasses with green lenses and small side shields, which are a separate piece and can be left off. He wears a deep blue button-down shirt, a yellow-green tie with black leopard spots, a silver wristwatch, gray creased trousers, a dark brown belt and brown oxford shoes. Each base is a cracked, tilted slab of blue-gray concrete with broken bright yellow raised-dot paving under his feet. Four blue-purple creatures crawl over it: three long worm-like bodies rising in curves with wide grins full of human-looking teeth, and a crouching, hairy, ape-like one gripping the front edge. At the back stand a weathered metal scaffold frame and a green sign with a yellow arrow.

This listing is a bundle of two complete figures, one in each outfit, each on its own base. One wears an open light gray jacket with a fine ribbed texture, its hem flaring, over the shirt and tie. The other has the jacket off: the blue shirt has its sleeves rolled to the forearm and dark brown leather suspenders run over both shoulders.

What's in the kit

  • 36 resin pieces in total.
  • Suit figure, 18 pieces: the figure in 10 pieces (head, the separate glasses, torso, two arms, the left hand holding the tie, the right hand holding the wrapped blade, legs and two shoes), with the torso, arms and hands in the open gray jacket, and its own base in 8 pieces (the cracked slab in two halves, four creatures, the scaffold frame and the arrow sign).
  • Shirtsleeves figure, 18 pieces: the figure in 10 pieces, with the torso in the shirt and suspenders and the arms and hands in rolled shirt sleeves, and its own base in 8 pieces, the same as the first.
  • Studio size, each figure: 1:6 scale, 322 mm (12.68 in) tall, 236 mm (9.29 in) wide and 187 mm (7.36 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' printing and scale guide).
  • Scale: 1:6 (from the studio). Scale isn't standardized, so figures of the same scale from different creators may not match exactly.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • The blade arm is held straight out from the shoulder with the blade at the end. Pin the shoulder and the wrist.
  • Each figure stands on two shoes on its slab. Pin both ankles into the slab.
  • Each slab comes in two halves. Join them flat first, then place the four creatures, the scaffold frame and the sign around his feet.
  • On the shirtsleeves figure the arm join falls on the shirt sleeve, so plan to fill and sand that seam. The glasses are tiny, and the tie, the scaffold bracing and the sign posts are thin.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
