IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN UNPAINTED, UNASSEMBLED RAW RESIN KIT. IT IS NOT A FINISHED FIGURE.

The pictures are the sculptor's digital renders of the painted design. Your kit arrives as 27 separate pieces of plain, single-color resin. It is:

  • Unassembled: you glue the pieces together yourself.
  • Unprimed: it needs primer before paint.
  • Unsanded: seams and surfaces need sanding.
  • Unpainted: all painting is up to you.

Expect supports and support marks. Some parts may ship with supports still attached to make sure they do not get damaged during shipping. You may need to sand parts to fully remove supports or fill marks where supports attached. You will need to prime with an appropriate primer.

This kit is for people who want the full experience of finishing a 3D printed kit without owning a printer. It’s also a good way to find out whether the hobby is for you, and what finishing a printed model really takes, before you buy a printer of your own.

A fan-art statue of the spiky-haired young hero of a famous action role-playing game series, wielding giant key-shaped swords. He stands with one foot planted on the edge of a round pedestal and the other knee drawn up high, his body twisted toward the viewer, one arm raised so the hand grips a key sword lying across the back of his shoulders and the other arm reaching straight forward. His brown hair stands up in long tapered spikes with a separate fringe, and he has big bright blue eyes and a confident smirk. He wears a short-sleeved black hooded jacket with white piping, zipper straps and a silver shoulder trim over a navy shirt with a red waistband, a navy belt with a square silver buckle, very full knee-length black shorts with yellow thigh straps and a red hip pouch, fingerless gloves with striped wristbands, a heavy chain necklace and chunky boots with yellow collars and white soles. A translucent gold swoosh with four-point stars sweeps up off the pedestal behind his legs. The pedestal is round and stepped with a band of pointed arches and heart-shaped tracery around its side, and its top is a separate disc sculpted in relief with a stained-glass picture. Every weapon is in the box, so you can build any of the five arrangements and swap them as you like: a single key sword over the shoulder with an open forward hand, twin key swords, twin key swords with gold flame effects, or two ornate key swords (a dark one and a star-tipped one) held either way round.

What's in the kit

  • 27 resin pieces in total.
  • Figure, 10 pieces: head, fringe, torso, two arms, the shorts, two lower legs and two boots.
  • Weapons, 9 pieces: the plain key sword that rests over the shoulder, the open forward hand, a second plain key sword held forward in its fist, the pair of key swords with gold flame effects, and the dark sword and the star-tipped sword each in two forms, one to rest over the shoulder and one held forward in its fist.
  • Base, 8 pieces: the pedestal in four sections, the stained-glass top disc, and the gold swoosh effect in three sections.
  • Studio size: 1:6 scale, 328 mm (12.91 in) tall, 250 mm (9.84 in) wide and 212 mm (8.35 in) deep (from Tanuki Figures' notes file and scale guide).
  • Scale: 1:6 (from the studio). Scale isn't standardized, so figures of the same scale from different creators may not match exactly.

About the sizes: every measurement above comes from the sculptor's own files or the studio's published size information for the unprinted model. Your printed kit can differ slightly: resin shrinks a little as it cures, removing supports and sanding takes off some material, and the assembled height depends on how the parts are fitted. Treat the numbers as a close guide, not an exact guarantee.

Skill level: advanced

  • Build the pedestal first: four sections, then the stained-glass disc on top. The disc picture is sculpted as raised lines, so it can be painted cell by cell like real stained glass.
  • He stands on one planted boot with the other knee raised, so the whole figure rides on that one boot. Pin the boot to the leg and into the disc.
  • The key swords are long and thin with fine chains, guards and charms, and they reach well out from his hands. Fit them last and handle the figure by the torso. Every weapon comes in the kit; the forward swords carry their own fist, so to swap them later, pin them at the wrist without glue.
  • The gold swoosh and the flame effects are meant for translucent resin; their star points and flame tips are thin.

You'll need (not included): sandpaper or sanding sticks, flush cutters, CA glue or epoxy, primer, paints, and brass rod if you pin the joints.
